So, you should have your pantry stocked with yummy healthy foods for all your baking needs and snack cravings! Now it’s time to stock your refrigerator with some healthy refrigerator staples!
You have to be careful with stocking your refrigerator with healthy food. Most of your healthy refrigerator staples includes foods that have close expiration dates and produce that doesn’t last very long; therefore, you need to be smart about your purchases so you don’t waste any money. This is where meal planning really comes in handy.

Below are the foods that should always be in your refrigerator;
Cheese
I swear if I gave up cheese I could probably loose a lot of weight :). The truth is, if you are like me and cannot give up cheese, opt for the following options;
- Reduced fat or fat free cheese, (sliced and shredded)
- Parmesan Cheese
- Laughing Cow Cheese
- Reduced Fat Cottage Cheese
Condiments

Beverages
If you have any pop in your refrigerator. Get rid of it. Yes, even diet pop. The beverages listed below are not only healthier but they really quench your thirst.
- Unsweetened Iced Tea
- Sugar-Free Juice
- Cold Brew Coffee
- Seltzer Water
- Skim Milk or 1% Milk
- Almond Milk
Dips
A couple dips are great for mixing with some veggies. Carrots and green peppers are my favorite raw veggies to dip. Also, if you are partaking in tacos (minus the tortillas) opt for some guacamole or fat-free sour cream. I actually even substitute out my fat-free sour cream for some non-fat plain Greek yogurt!

Eggs
Every week, I hard boil a bunch or brown organic eggs. They make the perfect breakfast, protein or snack. On the days I have a little more time, the liquid egg whites are great for making some spinach omelets :).

Fresh Fruit
Always stock your refrigerator with your choice of fresh fruit. Try to stay away from the fruits that contain a lot of sugar. Also, I like to cut up my strawberries and melons and put them in nice clear containers so they are easily seen and I can just reach in and grab them.

- Blueberries
- Plums
- Melons
Fresh Vegetables
These are some of my favorite vegetables that I always include in my refrigerator and I find can be tossed into any dish.
- Zucchini

- Sweet Potatoes

- Tomatoes
- Asparagus
- Carrots
- Peppers (Green, Red and Yellow)
Hot Dogs/Bacon
Turkey dogs or fat-free hot dogs are a great substitute for original hot dogs. They also make for super easy 30 second lunches :).
- Turkey Bacon
- Reduced Fat or Fat-Free Hot Dogs
- Turkey Hot Dogs
Lunch Meats
Every mom needs lunch meats in their refrigerator. I stick with non-GMO, lean and/or low sodium when possible.
- Non-GMO Turkey
- Low Sodium Salami
- Lean Ham
- Roast Beef
Meat/Fish/Poultry
When meal planning, I always have some meats and chicken in my refrigerator. If you do not meal plan, these items should be kept in the freezer. I always choose lean.
- Lean Ground Beef
- Skinless Fish
- Lean Ground Chicken
- Turkey Breast
- Chicken Breast Thinly Sliced
- Rotisserie Chicken
Meat Alternatives
If you are not a meat-eater, the following meat alternatives make healthy refrigerator staples.
- Soy Dogs
- Tofu
- Tempeh
- Seitan
Starches
These starches can also be kept in your pantry, but to preserve them, I always keep my starches in the refrigerator.
- Ezekiel Bread
- Sprouted Whole Grain Tortillas
- Whole Grain English Muffin
Yogurt/Smoothie
There is only one yogurt I eat and/or use in my smoothies and that is non-fat plain Greek Yogurt.
