So as most of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is a time dedicated to spread awareness about breast cancer. It is also a time to honor the women who have fought breast cancer and survived, those who are currently battling the disease and those who have fought and lost the battle to Breast Cancer. Raising awareness helps the cause by sustaining the mission to educate people in the fight to end breast cancer.

My Mother-in-law is a two-time survivor of breast cancer. She has surrounded herself in this wonderful community of people who want to help raise awareness. She is volunteer for the City of Hope, which is an organization whose primary goal is to find a solution to curing cancer.
As part of her contribution to this organization, she works a fundraiser to inspire other women and help save lives by making women aware of this disease and encouraging them to get checked out, and also look for possible signs that could potentially be early warning signs of breast cancer.
I feel very strongly for this disease as I know and have known women who have breast cancer and are fighting, who had breast cancer and survived and also who lost the battle to breast cancer.
As a small gesture and token of appreciation for these women, I have created breast cancer awareness centerpieces for some of the fundraising events.
This is one of the centerpieces I made for this year’s fundraising event. It is very easy to make and I feel it really makes a statement.
Below are supplies to make this grand breast cancer awareness centerpiece.
1. Eiffel Tower Vase
The first thing you will need is a 24” white Eiffel Tower Vase. You can choose to order white or clear. If you choose white, you can add glitter or even some fairy lights in the inside to give the vase a soft glow. You can also add some pink glue sticks in the vase for a more florescent glow.
Otherwise, choose clear if you want to add anything in the vase and would like it to show, ie. beads, additional feathers, fairy lights, tulle, glitter pom poms, etc.
For this centerpiece, I chose white and added some spray glitter for a subtle effect.
2. Foam Bouquet Holder
The next thing you will need is a foam bouquet holder. You can purchase these at any craft store, or directly on Amazon. This will hold all of the feathers in place.
3. (40) 12-15 inch Ostrich drab feathers or plumes (2 packs).
There is a difference between drabs and plums so it all depends on what look you are going for. Drabs tend to be smaller and narrower than plumes but they have softer quills. Plumes are much larger and fuller but they are also more costly. For the sake of cost, I chose these ostrich feathers.
4. Additional Accessories
I chose to add some hanging pearls and entwined a boa in the feathers. I also purchased a white boa at the bottom surrounding the base. I added some spray glitter to the Eiffel tower vase to give it an added sparkle :). The fairy lights are a perfect touch to give the base of the centerpiece that soft glow.
TIP: You can also go to the dollar store and purchase the boas and pearl necklaces at a much cheaper cost 🙂
Once you have your supplies, it is time to start putting the diy breast cancer awareness centerpiece together.
- The first thing you will want to do is figure out what you want to do with the base. If you chose fairy lights, add them in first. If you chose to spray paint some glitter on the Eiffel tower vase, make sure you do that first to allow time to dry.
- The next step is to insert the feathers into the foam bouquet holder. I placed one feather in each section of my foam bouquet holder. You can add more for a fuller look. You will want to position the feathers facing up or down depending on the look you are going for. I placed the feathers facing down on the bottom and then faced the feathers facing up towards the top. After all feathers are in place, stick the foam bouquet holder in the top of the Eiffel tower vase.
- The last step is to add the accessories! I added some pearls and draped them over some of the feathers. I also added some boas in between some of the feathers to give the breast cancer awareness centerpiece a fuller look. Lastly, I positioned another white boa around the base of the Eiffel tower vase.
That’s it! Not only are these diy breast cancer awareness centerpieces super easy to create, but they are also very easy to transport as well! You can take the top off of the vase when transporting so that they can easily fit in any vehicle.
This diy breast cancer awareness centerpiece really makes a statement and really showcases breast cancer awareness. These ladies deserve something spectacular. This breast cancer awareness centerpiece stands tall and strong just like every woman fighting this disease.
