I absolutely love the change of seasons. For me, it’s like a reset button for all aspects of life. It gives me an excuse to re-organize, do some home maintenance and purge and/or donate some of the unnecessary items in my home. The other reason I love the season changes is because I really love swapping out the Décor in my home to bring in the new season! Below is a list of the top 20 fall must haves for the home.

There are many elements that go into bringing fall into your home. This list will serve as a fall “must have” list for your home that you can reuse every fall!

Fall Décor and Fun For Inside Your Home
1. Pillows
I am a huge fan of pillows. Each of the beds in my home have TONS of pillows. My chairs have pillows and yes, my couches have many, many pillows. The problem with pillows are, they are expensive. The other issue becomes, where you store them if you are changing them out for each season.
If you are crazy into pillows like me, then just buy some nice pillow inserts and then purchase some pillow covers for the different seasons.
To start, I always have a few solid color pillows that match the season. I have one for each corner of my couch and one for the center. These burnt orange velvet pillow covers make for the perfect fall pillows. The velvet has a warmth to it that is cozy for those cooler days.
I always love to accent my solid pillows with some decorative pillows. For fall, I love plaids. These are my favorite fall plaid pillows from Etsy. I actually have these pillow covers on my couch for fall. They make great accent pillows to put over your solid color pillows.
Lastly, I love a holiday themed pillow to tie it all in. It is simple yet makes a statement!
If you are not as in to pillows as me, then just get one good FALL pillow and place it on a chair or bench!
2. Blankets
A nice big throw blanket is another fall must have for your home. Not only does a big chunky knit blanket make for some great Décor, but it is necessary to keep you warm during those cooler months.
3. Soap
Stock up on some pumpkin and/or caramel scented soaps. I always have seasonal soap in my bathroom. It carries the smell of the season throughout my home and adds a nice decorative touch to the bathroom.
4. Hand Towels
I always have a set of seasonal hand towels in my bathrooms and my kitchen. I usually do Halloween inspired towels to help bring in the holiday for the fall season. When Thanksgiving comes around, I opt to replace them for some fall colored towels.
5. Candles
There is nothing like bringing in a season then having some fall candles burning in your home. I love walking into the warm house on a cool crisp fall day with the smell of Spiced Pumpkin permeating the air.
6. Firewood
If you have a fireplace, which most people do in the Midwest, it’s time to get some firewood. The cooler dark nights are much better when there is a fire on in your fireplace. It’s also a good idea to get some firewood if you have an outdoor fire pit. I love sitting by a fire on a cool fall night.
7. Fireplace
If you do not have one, get one of these. This is the one I have one in my master bedroom and it is one of the best investments. My fireplace came with a remote control and also has the option to heat the room!
8. Fireplace Garland and Décor
A fireplace is a statement in most peoples homes. I always decorate my fireplace whether it be for a party or a holiday. This fall garland adds the perfect fall touch for every home. The great thing about fireplace garland, is it can also be used to place on the center of a table for a table decoration.
9. Holiday Sign
I always like to have a sign for each holiday. This sign can be used year round. You can also do a smaller seasonal sign for any of your accent tables or your fireplace mantel.
Porch Décor
Your front porch is the first thing people notice when they look at your home. Is it welcoming? Are there pretty flowers? Maybe a wreath? Is there a doormat welcoming people into your home?
10. Doormat
I like to change out my doormat for all the holidays. Having a fall doormat sets the tone for your porch. This doormat is a perfect staple for your front porch. The best part is, you can layer it to match the seasons!
11. Flowers
Another element I bring onto my porch are flowers. Some maroon, orange and yellow mums are the perfect fall flowers for your porch. I usually purchase a couple hay stacks and layer the mums on the porch and on the haystacks.
12. Wreathe
A wreath is something I always like to have on my front door. During the fall season, I always put out a nice big fall colored wreath. There is something about a wreath on a font door that makes a home feel warm and welcoming.
13. Pumpkins
Lastly, pumpkins. Your porch is not complete with some pumpkins layered on the porch and haystacks alongside the mums 😊.
Now that we have brought the fall season into our home, it’s time to enjoy the season with these fall must have eats.
Food and drink
There are certain things we have every year as a staple in our kitchen. We only purchase these items once a year and it’s in October.
14. Apple Pies
We like to get cinnamon chunks, caramel syrup and vanilla bean ice cream to pour over the warm apple pie, yum 😊.
15. S’mores
We also make sure we are fully stocked with S’mores. We have a fire pit in our backyard that we use often in the fall. Our house always has marshmallows, Hershey’s chocolate and graham crackers.
16. Apple Cider
Apple Cider is another fall “must have” in our home. Every Halloween, I warm some apple cider over the stove with some cinnamon sticks. For the adults, we spike it with some Everclear. Yes, Everclear 😊. Nothing beats the smell of apple cider and cinnamon on a cool crisp day.
17. Candy Apples
The kids love making and eating candy apples so we always make sure that we get the honey crisp apples with some caramel to melt.
18. Apple Donuts
Apple donuts are another fall must have for us during October. As mentioned in my other blogs, I am a firm believer in the 80/20 rule. Eating an apple donut in October is definitely saved for my 20% in October 😊.
19. Candy Corn and Caramel Popcorn
I always like to make Halloween snacks. Candy corn, pretzels and caramel popcorn make a great fall snack.
Lastly, it would not be fall without a Crockpot.
20. Crockpot
During the fall and winter months, our Crockpot is a staple in our home. There is something about the smell of something cooking in the Crockpot that just really feels like fall. Whether it be chili for Football Sunday or weekday meals for the whole family, everyone needs a Crockpot in your home! I urge everyone to make at least one crock pot meal a week!
That sums it up for your list of fall must haves. Start with the interior and exterior of your home, then make sure you get some good eats to really take it all in!
