Spring break is here and that means one thing, no school and kids are at home! I always find that if my kids are busy, whether that be busy playing, doing crafts, running around or watching a movie, as long as they are occupied they typically behave. They also don’t complain that the are bored!

In the beginning of March, I start thinking up ideas and activities for the kids to do over break. I decided to come up with a list of things that you can add to your Spring Break Bucket List! If you are home bound like we are, these fun activities will help keep your kids occupied. Happy kids, happy mom… :).
To see a list of activities you can do over spring break, check out the spring break bucket list at the end of the blog!
1. Go For a Nature Walk
I am a firm believer in getting kids outside. Kids need fresh air and free play. Not only is playing outside good for their mental health, it wears them out and they sleep better! Take them out and get them out in nature. Teach them about the animals you see, the plants that are growing and all the insects flying around you. Teach them about health and exercise and the importance of keeping your mind and body healthy.
2. Set Up an Easter Egg Hunt
This is super easy to do and the kids will love it. You can buy pre-stuffed eggs or make your own. If I make my own I usually put little toys in some, money in others and then candy in others.
3. Have a Picnic
Get a basket and gather some supplies. Pack some utensils, plates, napkins, cups, drinks and your favorite food. Walk or drive to your favorite park or just set up a blanket in your backyard!
4. Bake Something
I love baking with the kids. I always try to incorporate math when I bake with them. Adding and subtracting, units of measurements etc.
5. Set up a Ninja Warrior Obstacle
Set up some fun Ninja Warrior Obstacles. You can either get super creative and create your own or you can purchase a Ninja Warrior Obstacle from Amazon. There are different obstacles to choose from and they are a great form of exercise for all ages.
6. Dance in the Rain
I know it is hard to be motivated when it is gloomy and rainy, but the kids LOVE playing in the rain. As long as there is not a storm, I love taking the kids out to dance in the rain. Get all their fun rain gear out and let them dance around. These are the memories kids will remember when they are older!
7. Read a Chapter Book
Find an age appropriate book and either read it to them or have them read it to you. Read a chapter a day, ask them questions and stir their imagination!
8. Build Something
Use things around your house and build something. Build a lego castle with legos, or a fort with pillows and blankets! I tend to online shop ALOT 🙂 so we always have extra boxes. We like to use them to build robots, houses, forts, etc.
9. Make a Craft
Get out some craft supplies and get your kids creative juices flowing. Tell them to make something with the supplies you have at hand. Don’t give them any directions, just have them think up something to make.
10. Put Together a Puzzle
Depending on how old your kids are, pick a puzzle that is age appropriate. The 1000 piece puzzles are great fun. The kids feel so accomplished when the complete one of these!
11. Have a Camp Out in/at Your House
If the weather is nice, have a camp out in your backyard! Pitch a tent, set up a bonfire, make some s’mores and spend some quality time. If it is too cold or the weather is not cooperating, pitch a tent in the house and bring the camp out inside!
12. Make a Pizza
Have a family night and make a pizza. It’s also fun to have each kid make a personalized pizza. Set up some bowls with different toppings of sausage, mushrooms, cheese, olives, pepperoni, etc. Get creative!
13. Have a Movie Marathon
Grab some blankets and pillows and start the popcorn! Relax and watch movies for a majority of the day. Put the phones down and really watch the movies. Let your mind get some rest from social media!
14. Go On a Bike Ride
If the kids are old enough, take them on a family bike ride. If they are too young or you do not have the proper equipment, go out for a walk and just breath in the fresh air.
15. Make Ice Cream Sundaes
There is nothing more fun than setting up an ice cream sundae bar. Get out some fun toppings and a couple different flavors of ice cream and let the kids pick their toppings. I like to use sprinkles, chocolate chips, whip cream, cherries, caramel sauce and chocolate sauce and then I like to also add some fun candy or cookies to the mix as well!
16. Have a Dance Party
The best thing you can do before bedtime is have a dance party. Let the kids burn off any extra energy they have and wipe them out! Play the music freeze game for some added fun.
17. Do a Science Experiment
There are so many fun science experiments you can do with the kids. PBS kids has a great site that you can put in what supplies you have and they will give you different science experiments you can do with the supplies you already have. You can also buy a fun science kit online. We purchased this science kit, which has all the materials and several different fun experiments for the kids.
18. Make a Home Spa
My daughter and I frequently have in-home spa days. We have a foot pedicure spa that I soak her feet in. We then have a nail polish station where she picks her favorite colors. While waiting for her nails to dry, I apply a kid friendly face mask and slice some fresh cucumbers over her eyes. She loves it, and the best part is I don’t have to spend any money!
19. Plant Some Flowers
If the ground is not frozen, it’s a great time to plant some flowers. The kids love not only planting the flowers, but they love seeing them grow. We also have indoor plants as well that the kids are responsible for taking care of. It gives them responsibility and they can see how their hard work pays off when the plants grow!
20. Make a Sensory Trail With Sidewalk Chalk
Create a sensory trail with chalk on your sidewalk and let all the neighbors and friends join in! This is great exercise for the kids and keeps them active and busy! Have the neighbors add on to it and make it a super long trail. The kids will not only use creativity but they will get some exercise as well!
Summary
Do them all or pick your favorites from this spring break bucket list! I hope this provided you some fun inspiration for your kid’s spring break. Enjoy the time you have with your kids and family and stay healthy and safe! Happy Spring Break!
