As many of you know and probably already experience, keeping up with your health and beauty routine can be expensive. Depending on the extent of your routine, you can spend upwards of $200 a month or maybe even more. From gym memberships to tanning, to waxing, to nails, to beauty products, these routines add up.

Cut Down The Cost Of Your Beauty Routine With These “At Home” Supplies!
Don’t get me wrong, I love going to the salon for routine hair cuts and manicures and I also love supporting local businesses but I needed a way to be able to do this but keep costs down. Below is a list of seven ways you can cut down the cost of your beauty routine.
To see a list of items you need to purchase to cut down the cost of your beauty routine, see the list at the end of the blog!
1. Do Your Own Waxing
Waxing is not that difficult to do on your own. You will first want to purchase this wax machine. You will also need these wax sticks and these wax strips. I would always make sure to text the wax on your skin before continuing any hair removal. I would also recommend keeping your wax machine on low or medium when in use. You want it cooler and thicker because that way it does not burn your skin and it is easier to apply. I have had my machine for over 15 years and LOVE it.
2. Purchase Your Own Nail Dip Starter Kit
If you love having your nails done but you don’t like painting them every few days or spending upwards of $50.00, this Nail Dip Starter Kit is what you need. I will be honest, it took me a few times to really get the hang of this. The first couple times it was a little bumpy and not entirely smooth. I ended up purchasing this electronic nail file which really helped smooth out my nails. The upfront cost is a little expensive, but you can get your monies worth in about two applications! This YouTube video gives you step by step instructions on how to apply dip powder to your nails. I love SNS and really stand by their products, however for the actual dipping powder, I prefer Nugenesis. You can follow the same instructions as the video, but just with this brand of dipping powder.
3. Apply Your Own Self Tanner
Mystic tanning is said to be safer than the tanning beds but the problem is, it doesn’t last long. Mystic tans only really last 5-7 days at most. The healthiest option is to not tan in beds and not apply any tanner at all, but if you must, St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse is the best self tanner. You can also purchase this applicator mitt to make it easier to apply evenly on your skin. This gives you the glow you are looking for without even leaving your house!
4. Get a Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer And Volumizer Hot Air Brush
I blogged about this brush in A List Of My Most Favorite Things That Every Mom Needs, and yes I am going to blog about it again! If you have not gotten this hair brush, what are you waiting for??? This is the ultimate Blow dryer hair brush! It dries my hair super fast and leaves it feeling smooth and styled. I seriously feel like I stepped out of a salon every time I use this. I promise you, this Hair Dryer and Volumizer Hot Air Brush is worth the money!
5. Purchase a Foot Bath Spa Machine
These baths are great to soak your feet in while getting a little massage. You can use your electronic nail file from above along with some of these professional pedicure tools below to give yourself a pedicure. You will want to apply this Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub. Tree Hut has many different options for foot scrub, but I like this one. The CeraVe lotion is a great overall body lotion that can be used all over. Next is the nail polish. You will want to apply a base coat, nail polish and top coat, and you are good to go.
6. Set Up A Home Gym
As mentioned in my previous blog, A List Of Equipment You Need to Start Your Own Gym, I feel having a home gym is very important. It is great for those times when you just don’t feel like going to the gym and the idea of working out in the comfort of your own home is great too. I have a home gym and a gym membership, but if you are looking to cut costs, set up a home gym. The upfront cost may seem like a lot, but the equipment lasts a really long time and once you pay for it, it’s yours forever to use whenever you want!
Summary
This completes your list of 6 ways you can cut down the cost of your beauty routine. I started doing the above things a few years ago and I am so happy I did. I am still able to complete my beauty routine but for much less money. As mentioned previously, I do love to support local businesses so I will venture out to the salons every so often when I have an event, party or special occasion but to keep costs down, I recommend these 6 ways you can cut down the cost of your beauty routine.

I love the idea of doing all of these things on your own! It’s so much cheaper in the long run and you can see just how capable you are of making yourself look so good, instead of paying someone else to do it. 🙂

Yes Ashley! I totally agree. It is soo much cheaper doing it yourself. It also saves so much time! It’s not as easy with three kids for me to get out (especially now!) so this has definitely helped me 🙂
